The Nightmare of Milky Joe

I'm snuggled under 2 big blankets writing this post which seems incredible as I was sure that moving to Perth, Western Australia would mean wonderful warm weather all year round! I suppose winter is chilly no matter where in the world you are!

Piece 50 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. A rainbow explosion aptly called Over The Rainbow by Ulta3 with a collection of different sizes and colours of glitter combined. BYS Black helps the glitter pop.

Piece 49 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 18mm triangle glass cabochon with a flat top and rounded corners. Neon can be intense and even overpowering but by pairing China Glaze's Celtic Sun (neon yellow) with the subdued nude of Ulta3's Allure this ring becomes less intimidating.

Piece 48 ia pair of drop earrings with silver plated earring loops and tear shaped glass cabochons (18x25mm). Subtle bling in the form of a gradient using OPI's Crown Me Already and a milky white custom Willow Street nail polish which I've called Milky Joe. Anyone who is a fan of The Mighty Boosh will revel in the coco-loco milkiness of these earrings and if you have no idea what I'm on about hop over to Youtube to check this out!

Piece 47 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 18mm triangle glass cabochon with a flat top and rounded corners. A segment of Hard Candy's Beetle is sliced between deep blue La Playa by Orly creating a laser beam of duochrome shimmer.

Piece 46 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. A fine glass fleck shimmer micro glitter gradient using LA Girl's Bronze Medal and backed by Ulta3's Purple Pumps which is a vibrant pinky purple.

It's All About the Colour Shifting Duochromes

Piece 45 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. This ring is indescribable and is by far the most popular Willow Street piece to date. It seems everyone is as captivated by the colour shifting wave of Max Factor's Fantasy Fire as I am. This ring shifts through a rainbow of colours from glowing red through golden to green and is backed by Ulta3 Spring Break.

Piece 44 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. A very unique name for this nail polish: Pinky Brown! A duo chrome shimmer nail polish from the Models Own Beetlejuice collection, paired with BYS Black.

Piece 43 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochon. A favourite glitter which has appeared in several Willow Street pieces, China Glaze's Prism is an explosion of glitter and duochrome.

Piece 42 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 18mm triangle glass cabochon with a flat top and rounded corners. This ring was IMPOSSIBLE to photograph! The colour shift of Ozotic 508 is breath taking but also frustrating to photograph! So many colours in this nail polish and the rounded triangle is such a nice way to showcase it! Backed by BYS Black as usual for most of my colour shifting nail polishes!

Piece 41 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm facet glass cabochons. The incredible duo chrome, colour shifting nail polish used for these earrings is Ozotic 505 which shows an absolute rainbow of colours which are accentuated by the facet shape of these cabochons and enhanced by BYS Black.

Glitter and Gradients

Piece 40 is a tear drop pendant necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain made with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm). A bold stripe of China Glaze's Prism strikes through China Glaze's First Mate. This pendant is a grown up way to wear glitter and the duochrome shift in Prism is the icing on the cake!

Piece 39 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. The gorgeous glitter in these hair pins is Chunky Holo Fuchsia by Kleancolor and is a duochrome glitter that shifts from a glowing pink to a vibrant green and is backed by Ulta3's Purple Pumps. These hair pins will absolutely glow in the hair and catch the light and catch people's eye!

Piece 38 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. These earrings are Snowcone by Orly (pale blue) and Purple Pumps by Ulta3 (purple) in a gradient.

Piece 37 is a tear drop pendant necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain made with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm). I love to use colour blocking and anything with mint green is A-OK with me! This pendant has a mint green called Sweetpea by Australis (an Australian cosmetics company) and looks like it has been dipped in Victorian by Revlon which is a jelly polish that is slightly translucent.

Piece 36 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. These earrings are made with a TKB duochrome pigment called Marinda Star which moves from a golden yellow to a vibrant pink. To really make the colour shift pop these earrings are backed with BYS Black.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Piece 35 is a tear drop pendant necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain made with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm). This tear shaped pendant mirrors piece 32 using the same colour combination but in a different layout. China Glaze's Light As Air and H&M's Miss Stone Heart are such an easy combination.

Piece 34 is an oval necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and silver backing made with a glass cabochon (30x40mm).  There's nothing wrong with a bit of bling and Crown Me Already by OPI is definitely bling! For this pendant I combined it with Ulta3 Silver Glitter (another imaginative name!) and Celeb City by Sally Hansen to back it. There is a glitter gradient which trickles down from the top and fractures the light as it hits it.

Piece 33 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. NYX is a great nail polish brand, cheap and cheerful but they don't come out with new collections much. I get my NYX nail polish from BeautyJoint who have a good selection of nail polishes at great prices (especially compared to the price of nail polish in Australia!). Carnival by NYX is a rainbow glitter and a total party especially when paired with China Glaze's Celtic Sun neon yellow nail polish.

Piece 32 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. A nice mix of a washed out grey pastel purple by China Glaze called Light As Air paired with mid-toned grey by H&M called Miss Stone Heart. Another piece that could work with so many outfits, I can imagine it with an understated office outfit or with relaxed jeans on the weekend.

Piece 31 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. The shimmer/glass fleck  nail polish is by Model's Own and is part of the Beetlejuice collection. I'd always heard of the movie Beetlejuice but I hadn't seen it until pretty recently and wow was it an awesome movie. Wacky and weird and wonderful! This nail polish is called Purple Blue (what an imaginative name!) and it is backed with BYS Black. Jen over at the Polishaholic has some great Beetlejuice swatches.

Building some momentum

Another day, another blog post. Things have been going well and it makes me smile from ear to ear every time someone likes a Facebook post or favourites an Etsy item. Willow Street is an opportunity for me to escape my Monday to Friday job and pour my creativity in to something productive. So a big thank you to everyone who has been involved so far, and keep checking back to see what's happening.

Piece 30 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. The micro glitter/glass flecks of Halley's Comet by Orly is spectacular. It shifts and changes as it catches the light, especially when it's backed by BYS Black to bring out the colours!

Piece 29 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). Another colour blocking piece, I just love the contrast and the sharp lines. This necklace has an awesome neon yellow called Celtic Sun by China Glaze, this picture just doesn't capture the brightness! Kleancolor's Blue Eyed Girl is a beautiful nail polish although I haven't worn it on my nails as it takes too many coats to create the dimension and I am just not patient enough for it to wait! The white is Essence's Ahoy! but any white would do! I love the contrast between these three colours, I think this pendant would go nicely with so many outfits.

Piece 28 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. There is only one nail polish used for these hair pins but you would be forgiven for thinking it was more than one! OPI's Not Like The Movies is quite spectacular, a colour shifting nail polish that moves from an iced mauve to a pale green with micro glitter for good luck.

Piece 27 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). The rainbow glitter of Ulta3's Over The Rainbow is mesmerising and I love they way it catches the light. The pink polish in this pendant is Revlon's Desire which is a jelly finish nail polish, jelly polishes are semi-transperant and can be layered with glitters or flakies creating beautiful depth and dimension. Check out this beautiful combo over at Nails & Riffs.

Piece 26 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. These earrings are made with Ozotic's 507 which is one of my favourite colour shifting nail polishes with BYS Black behind it

More Willow Street pieces

Piece 20 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. The pink glitter is Orly's Bubbly Bombshell which is an opaque glitter with small and micro glitters. The colour blocked black stripe is BYS Black.

Piece 19 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. These are made with a sponge gradient using Color Club Mol-Ten (a pale green metallic polish) with China Glaze First Mate.

Piece 18 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. This ring is made with Picture Polish Mask-a-rade glitter, a combination of different colour shifting glitters which creates a spectacular rainbow effect. BYS Black (my favourite) is backing makes the colour shift even stronger.

Piece 17 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. These earrings have a very thin layer of LA Girl's Bronze Medal, a golden/bronze shimmer in a clear base, with Ulta3 Purple Pumps behind it.

Piece 16 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. I absolutely love these faceted glass cabochons but they were a complete nightmare! They came with silver backing which, according to google, should be easy enough to remove with apple cider vinegar and salt. But after 4 days of soaking and scrubbing I was about to give up! I finally got all the mirrored silver off and replaced it with a TKB colour shifting pigment called Cherkia Moon. I love TKB for pigments and solvent resistant glitters. I used BYS Black behind the pigment to emphasise the colour shift.
