Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Piece 35 is a tear drop pendant necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain made with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm). This tear shaped pendant mirrors piece 32 using the same colour combination but in a different layout. China Glaze's Light As Air and H&M's Miss Stone Heart are such an easy combination.

Piece 34 is an oval necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and silver backing made with a glass cabochon (30x40mm).  There's nothing wrong with a bit of bling and Crown Me Already by OPI is definitely bling! For this pendant I combined it with Ulta3 Silver Glitter (another imaginative name!) and Celeb City by Sally Hansen to back it. There is a glitter gradient which trickles down from the top and fractures the light as it hits it.

Piece 33 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. NYX is a great nail polish brand, cheap and cheerful but they don't come out with new collections much. I get my NYX nail polish from BeautyJoint who have a good selection of nail polishes at great prices (especially compared to the price of nail polish in Australia!). Carnival by NYX is a rainbow glitter and a total party especially when paired with China Glaze's Celtic Sun neon yellow nail polish.

Piece 32 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. A nice mix of a washed out grey pastel purple by China Glaze called Light As Air paired with mid-toned grey by H&M called Miss Stone Heart. Another piece that could work with so many outfits, I can imagine it with an understated office outfit or with relaxed jeans on the weekend.

Piece 31 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. The shimmer/glass fleck  nail polish is by Model's Own and is part of the Beetlejuice collection. I'd always heard of the movie Beetlejuice but I hadn't seen it until pretty recently and wow was it an awesome movie. Wacky and weird and wonderful! This nail polish is called Purple Blue (what an imaginative name!) and it is backed with BYS Black. Jen over at the Polishaholic has some great Beetlejuice swatches.

Building some momentum

Another day, another blog post. Things have been going well and it makes me smile from ear to ear every time someone likes a Facebook post or favourites an Etsy item. Willow Street is an opportunity for me to escape my Monday to Friday job and pour my creativity in to something productive. So a big thank you to everyone who has been involved so far, and keep checking back to see what's happening.

Piece 30 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. The micro glitter/glass flecks of Halley's Comet by Orly is spectacular. It shifts and changes as it catches the light, especially when it's backed by BYS Black to bring out the colours!

Piece 29 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). Another colour blocking piece, I just love the contrast and the sharp lines. This necklace has an awesome neon yellow called Celtic Sun by China Glaze, this picture just doesn't capture the brightness! Kleancolor's Blue Eyed Girl is a beautiful nail polish although I haven't worn it on my nails as it takes too many coats to create the dimension and I am just not patient enough for it to wait! The white is Essence's Ahoy! but any white would do! I love the contrast between these three colours, I think this pendant would go nicely with so many outfits.

Piece 28 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. There is only one nail polish used for these hair pins but you would be forgiven for thinking it was more than one! OPI's Not Like The Movies is quite spectacular, a colour shifting nail polish that moves from an iced mauve to a pale green with micro glitter for good luck.

Piece 27 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). The rainbow glitter of Ulta3's Over The Rainbow is mesmerising and I love they way it catches the light. The pink polish in this pendant is Revlon's Desire which is a jelly finish nail polish, jelly polishes are semi-transperant and can be layered with glitters or flakies creating beautiful depth and dimension. Check out this beautiful combo over at Nails & Riffs.

Piece 26 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. These earrings are made with Ozotic's 507 which is one of my favourite colour shifting nail polishes with BYS Black behind it

All about earrings

Piece 25 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. These earrings have a sponged gradient using Orly's Snowcone (a pale blue) with OPI's Fly (a vibrant teal) which unfortunately was very difficult to capture in this photograph. I love to use dense makeup sponges to create gradients (although any sort of sponge will work), gradient manicures looks so cool especially if you stamp over them. For a brilliant gradient tutorial check out The Nailasaurus, she is the gradient guru!

Piece 24 ia pair of drop earrings with silver plated earring loops and tear shaped glass cabochons (18x25mm). A gradient of Orly's Bubbly Bombshell (pink glitter) and China Glaze First Mate. I love how you can create a gradient by building up the glitter at the bottom of the tear and then sheer it out to nothing, it makes it look like they have been dipped in glitter.

Piece 23 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons.  Another colour blocked pair of earrings! And another beautiful colour shifting nail polish, Ozotic 507 which moves between a golden green to a vivid blue/green and is paired with BYS Black.

Piece 22 is another pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. These are made with Ozotic 506, a layering polish that moves blue to purple, and is backed with BYS Black.

Piece 21 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm facet glass cabochons. This picture doesn't show the beauty of Hard Candy's Beetle nail polish, it colour shifts from pink to a golden shimmer. I have back these earrings with BYS Black to show the colour shift.

More Willow Street pieces

Piece 20 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. The pink glitter is Orly's Bubbly Bombshell which is an opaque glitter with small and micro glitters. The colour blocked black stripe is BYS Black.

Piece 19 is a pair of hair pins with silver plated hair slides and 8mm glass cabochons. These are made with a sponge gradient using Color Club Mol-Ten (a pale green metallic polish) with China Glaze First Mate.

Piece 18 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. This ring is made with Picture Polish Mask-a-rade glitter, a combination of different colour shifting glitters which creates a spectacular rainbow effect. BYS Black (my favourite) is backing makes the colour shift even stronger.

Piece 17 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochons. These earrings have a very thin layer of LA Girl's Bronze Medal, a golden/bronze shimmer in a clear base, with Ulta3 Purple Pumps behind it.

Piece 16 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 10mm facet glass cabochons. I absolutely love these faceted glass cabochons but they were a complete nightmare! They came with silver backing which, according to google, should be easy enough to remove with apple cider vinegar and salt. But after 4 days of soaking and scrubbing I was about to give up! I finally got all the mirrored silver off and replaced it with a TKB colour shifting pigment called Cherkia Moon. I love TKB for pigments and solvent resistant glitters. I used BYS Black behind the pigment to emphasise the colour shift.

Colour Shifting and Colour Blocking

Piece 15 a pair of drop earrings with silver plated earring loops and tear shaped glass cabochons (18x25mm). The amazing colour shifting glitter gradient in these tear shaped earring is Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black and it shifts from amber red through golden and on to green and deep blue. The glitter is backed by BYS Black.

Piece 14 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). This necklace is made with H&M's Miss Stone Heart nail polish (grey), Color Club's Cold Metal (a metallic blue) and Ulta3 Hot Spring (pink). I created this colour blocking by taping off different sections.

Piece 13 is an oval necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and silver backing made with a glass cabochon (30x40mm). This piece is made with a stripe of Nfu Oh's number 50 flake nail polish (top) and Orly's Halley's Comet nail polish (bottom) with Orly La Playa between.

Piece 12 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. This piece is made with a Sinful Colors nail polish called Nail Junkie and is backed with OPI's Fly which is a vivid teal.

Piece 11 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 18mm triangle glass cabochon with a flat top and rounded corners. This piece is made with BYS Black and a stripe of Orly's nail polish called It's Not Rocket Science which is a beautiful colour shifting glitter speck nail polish.

Piece 8 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochon. It is made with a Dots nail polish (I've never heard of Dots before, I picked it up in a dollar store) which is an unnamed teal glitter. These earrings are backed with BYS Black.

Piece 7 is a ring set on a silver adjustable band and is made with a 22mm deep dome glass cabochon. This piece is made with assorted iridescent glitters which colour shift as you move the ring. I love to use glitter with nail polish, there is something so cool about placing glitter and combining it with different colours. This ring is backed with Orly La Playa, a deep blue which I love to use as a backing colour.

Piece 6 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). This piece is made with Ozotic 507 a colour shifting green nail polish which glows golden and moves to a vibrant green. This piece also uses BYS Black.

I've been busy...

It's been a crazy weekend and I've been super busy making and packing and photographing and uploading. I've got my act together and you can now find Willow Street on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I'm still getting used to checking so many different social media platforms, and wrapping my head around linking posts so I apologise if you see the same thing more than once!

So I've been loving my Moo business cards, they're such a brilliant way to present my pieces while still being functional. It took me a while to decide exactly how to package each item, and things may change, but I am definitely loving the thick, sturdy Luxe cards.

I've also reinvigorated my Etsy shop (which I used for a previous business venture). There are a few pieces listed at my shop, with many more to come over the next couple of weeks so watch this space!

And now on to the important part of this post, the nail polish jewellery!

Piece 5 is a pair of drop earrings with silver plated earring loops and tear shaped glass cabochons (18x25mm). These earrings are made with NYX Carnival which is a rainbow glitter with small and micro glitters and Ulta3 Hot Spring which is a saturated pink. I love how the gradient makes these earrings look like they have been dipped in glitter!

Piece 4 is a round necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain and round silver bail made with a round glass cabochon (30mm). This piece is made with a Hard Candy nail polish called Beetle, a beautiful colour shifting nail polish that shifts through pink, golden and green. The black nail polish is BYS Black which is my preferred black nail polish, I love that it only takes one coat for opacity. BYS is an Australian cosmetic company.

Piece 3 is a tear drop pendant necklace on an 18 inch silver snake chain made with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm). This necklace is made with Sinful Colors Nail Junkie and Sinful Colors Hottie in a gradient and LA Girl Deejay. Nail Junkie is a teal glitter and Hottie is a blue glitter and they both have small and micro glitters. Deejay is a blue which glows under blue light.

Piece 2 is a pair of drop earrings with silver plated earring loops and tear shaped glass cabochons (18x25mm). These earrings are made with Kleancolor Blue Eyed Girl nail polish, I've placed most of the glitter at the bottom of the tear which creates a beautiful gradient effect. My favourite part about these earrings is that Blue Eyed Girl is a semi-translucent which means that the glitter looks like it has been trapped at different depths. Kleancolor nail polish is cheap and boy does it smell!

Piece 1 is a pair of stud earrings with 925 sterling silver earring posts and 8mm glass cabochon. These earrings are made with Ulta3 Envy nail polish (a pale rose gold/nude metallic) and Mode Fashionista (a saturated pink). Ulta3 and Mode are both Australian nail polish brands which are available in chemists.
