Getting ready for The Market

In preparation for the market at the Masonic Hall in Hobart on Sunday I am getting my act together and blogging the photos for pieces 76-100. Enjoy!

Piece 100 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.

Piece 99 is a ring with a domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a white enameled filigree adjustable ring. The swirls of nail polish used in this ring are Orly Snowcone (blue) and Color Club Fashion Addict (purple).

Piece 98 is a pair of cufflinks with round faceted glass cabochons (14x14mm) and silver plated French style cuff links. China Glaze Rare and Radiant is a beautiful chrome

Piece 97 is a pair of stud earrings with tear shaped glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. LA Girl Explosion is a mix of different size silver hex glitters and when partnered with Sally Hansen Celeb City they create a silver Explosion!

Piece 96 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. Sally Hansens Spectrum is beautiful and pretty easy to find in Australia, Priceline stock most Sally Hansen products but be warned – the prices are much higher than they are in America. Spectrum has been paired with BYS Black for this necklace.

Piece 95 is a necklace with an oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. More flakies and more Nfu Oh (they are some of the most beautiful flakies out there!). Nfu Oh 50 paired with Color Club Pucci-licious.

Piece 94 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. This necklace was a gift for a friend called Laura who is off starting a new adventure in New Zealand and I have to admit that I am more than a little jealous – NZ is firmly on my wish list of places to visit. This necklace uses Orly’s La Playa with a strike through of Max Factors Fantasy Fire – a stunning colour shifting shimmer which is reminiscent of the very hard to find Clarins 230).

Piece 93 is a pair of stud earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. These earrings are rose pink perfection. Jordana Pixie Pink in its purest form.

Piece 92 is a necklace with an oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. This necklace is complex and delicious.  Flakie nail polish Nfu Oh 56 and TKB Shanika Sun are a stunning combination.

Piece 91 is a pair of stud earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. Simple is sometimes the most beautiful. I seem to have no concept of this when it comes to fashion and putting together outfits – for me the more colour and pattern the better! But the simplicity of the sprawl of medium gold hex glitters in Milani Gold is just perfect.

Piece 90 is a ring with a square glass cabochon (25x25mm) set in an adjustable silver plated ring. The shattered effect in this ring is created using China Glaze’s Black Mesh which is a crackle nail polish. Crackle nail polishes were a huge trend that polarized opinion, it seems you either loved them and had to have every colour (and there were many many colours as virtually every nail polish brand brought out crackle finish nail polishes) or you HATED them and couldn’t stand the look. I have to say I sit somewhere in the middle of these two opinions – I was never much of a fan of crackle manicures but I absolutely adore the effect when creating nail polish jewellery. Peaking through the shattered black is TKB Marinda Star.

Piece 89 is a pair of cufflinks with round faceted glass cabochons (16x16mm) and silver plated French style cuff links. These grown up cufflinks are both understated and stunning – China Glaze’s Deviantly Daring has a subtle duochrome effect and for these cufflinks has been partnered with BYS Black.

Piece 88 is a pair of stud earrings with tear shaped glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. These earrings are so fun and bold. A simple glitter combination of medium black hex, large white hex and long black bar glitters called Whirled Away from China Glaze’s Cirque collection are paired with the super bright NYX Pimp My Nail.

Piece 87 is a pair of stud earrings with tear shaped glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. These earrings look like they have been dipped in beautiful pink rose glitter creating a stunning gradient effect. The gorgeous glitter is Jordana Pixie Pink and to compliment the glitter I have used a Willow Street nail polish that I called Milky Joe which is a milky white semi transparent nail polish.

Piece 86 is a necklace with an oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This oval necklace uses a trio of TKB pigments called the Star Bite Collection. Cherika Moon, Merinda Star and Shanika Sun are incredible duochrome shimmer pigments which I have used with clear suspension base to create beautiful topper nail polishes. To emphasise the colour shift in these pigments I have used BYS Black.

Piece 85 is a pair of stud earrings with tear shaped glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. These earrings use Jordana’s Carnival and the navy jelly base of NYX’s Ink Heart. Like tear shaped drops of the deep ocean.

Piece 84 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This necklace uses Sinful Colors Nail Junkie and Kleancolor Blue Eyed Girl to create a layered blue glitter effect with incredible depth. I love how the glitter is suspended in layers of inky blue jelly.

Piece 83 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  In my collection of 500+ nail polishes I only have 1 Hard Candy nail polish. Hard Candy is an American drug store brand and they can be tricky to find to buy online. I am so pleased that this beauty is part of my collection, Hard Candy Beetle is a glass fleck multichrome and is paired with BYS Black.

Piece 82 is a necklace with a oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  Flakie nail polishes are incredibly beautiful and Nfu Oh make some of the best ones. This oval necklace uses Nfu Oh 50 and Color Club Ms Socialite.

Piece 81 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  Ozotic has to be one of the best nail polish brands/lines for creating duochrome and multichrome nail polishes. I buy my Ozotic nail polishes from Picture Polish that is a wonderful Australian nail polish company. This necklace uses Ozotic 521 and BYS Black.

Piece 80 is a pair of stud earrings with tear shaped glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. These earrings make me think of slices of watermelon! The black seeds (glitter polish LA Girls Uninhibited) and the juicy pink flesh (Ulta3 Pink Colada) which makes a fun and abstract fruity combination!

Piece 79 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This necklace uses Kleancolor Holo Chrome and Ulta3 Blue Marlin which is an incredibly vibrant and saturated blue.

Piece 78 is a pair of stud earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. Only one nail polish was needed to achieve this explosion of gold glitter – Milani’s Gold. These earrings are the perfect accessory to finish off a look.

Piece 77 is a ring with a high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a black enameled filigree adjustable ring. The incredible swirl of CND Raspbetty Sparkle Effects (a colour shifting shimmer nail polish) and saturated BYS Black has been created using a technique called water marbling. This great video tutorial shows you how to create a marbled pattern on your nail and this technique translates well to jewellery!

Piece 76 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  More gradients! This is a glitter gradient that has been created by layering Picture Polish Mask-a-rade (a multicolour duochrome glitter nail polish) and Mode Fashionista. This necklace has a different personality in the sun and the shade so it is sure to be a key piece in your jewellery collection.

Playing Catch up

I know its been a while since I last updated this blog... but here is a big catch up post! Enjoy!

Piece 75 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This is a necklace with a very sophisticated and grown up gradient effect using NYX Golden Lavender (which has the most incredible gold shimmer) and Ulta3 Allure (which is my go to nude nail polish of the moment).

Piece 74 is a necklace with a rectangle glass cabochon (24x48mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  Imagine if it rained glitter, a shimmering shower of glinting discs of glitter. That’s what I imagine when I look at this necklace which uses 2 glitter nail polishes – Jordana Cosmic and LA Girl Aqueous which are backed by NYX Ink Heart.

Piece 73 is a ring with a high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a black enameled filigree adjustable ring. This ring is absolutely breath taking. The magic of Kleancolor’s Chunky Holo Black creates a rainbow kaleidoscope which is entirely mesmerizing. Fair warning – you will not be able to achieve anything while wearing this ring and driving is dangerous due to the fact that you wont be able to concentrate on anything other than the prism of colour in this ring. To compliment the colour shifting glitter BYS Black creates a perfect canvas.

Piece 72 is a pair of stud earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. The hero nail polish used for these earrings is Jordana’s Carnival but if I had my way I would rename this nail polish 40 leagues or deep sea because I think the layered, multidimensional effect created with green and blue hex medium glitter and small blue glitter suspended in a navy jelly base evokes the deep ocean. To amplify the navy jelly base I have used NYX Ink Heart which is also a navy jelly.

Piece 71 is a ring with a high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a black enameled filigree adjustable ring. This piece is a little unorthodox – another piece made with TKB Pigments that are designed for frankening nail polishes. Franken nail polishes (or the act of frankening) refers to mixing your own concoction using existing nail polishes, pigments, colour bases, glitters or flakies to create your own custom polish. The Indie nail polish scene has exploded in the past year as more people experiment and create their own unique nail polishes, to find some great nail polishes you can check out etsy or llawore. This ring uses TKB Green Flakies which create a chunky and chaotic colour changing effect when paired with BYS Black.

Piece 70 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  If you’ve visited this blog more than once you may have noticed my predilection for any nail polish that changes colour, usually called a duochrome (shifts between 2 colours) or a multichrome (shifts between more than 2 colours – like a rainbow captured in a nail polish bottle!). This tear shaped necklace uses Ozotic 507 which is widely recognized as a dupe for Chanel’s Peridot which was a massive hit in the nail polish world a couple of years ago – and it’s easy to see why! This nail polish shifts between a golden green, Kelly green, forest green and all the way to a deep hunter green – it’s a green dream! Duochromes and multichromes are most vibrant and the colour shift is most pronounced when paired with a dark base colour, for this piece I have used BYS Black.

Piece 69 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This necklace is bright! China Glaze’s Celtic Sun is my go to neon yellow nail polish and it has been combines with Sally Hansen’s Celeb City to create an eye catching gradient. This is a necklace that will definitely be noticed!

Piece 68 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  The beautiful gradient created in this piece is a combination of LA Girl’s Bronze Medal – a nail polish somewhere between chunky shimmer and micro glass fleck glitter, and LA Girl’s Deejay which is a bright blue which glows blue under black light!

Piece 67 is a necklace with a oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This necklace uses 2 Ulta3 nail polishes, a champagne metallic called Envy and a bold pink called Hot Spring.

Piece 66 is a necklace with a oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  More colour blocking! This piece uses Ozotic 505 at the top, Color Club Alias in the middle and Picture Polish Mask-a-rade glitter and all backed with BYS Black.

Piece 65 is a ring with a high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a white enameled filigree adjustable ring. This was an experiment that went incredibly well. I created this effect by painting a layer of clear nail polish and dipping it into TKB Pigment Cherika Moon to create a thick and mottled effect. I think this creates a finish that looks like a celestial cloud and with the colour shift from bright magenta to brilliant blue this ring is complex and eye catching.  BYS Black finishes this piece.

Piece 64 is a ring with a high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a white enameled filigree adjustable ring. Orly’s Halley’s Comet was one of the first Orly nail polishes that I bought and it still beauty still flaws me. Halley’s Comet is a glass fleck polish (think glitter but irregular and fine) which shifts through bright cyan blue, vibrant cobalt blue and a green aqua. To maximize the aqua this ring is backed with OPI’s Fly, a simple crème.

Piece 63 is a pair of cufflinks with round faceted glass cabochons (14x14mm) and silver plated French style cuff links. These cufflinks are eye-catching with a shimmering holographic effect created by Color Club’s Blue Heaven and BYS Black and heightened by the facets in the glass. These will blow you away in the sun!

Piece 62 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  By now you will have recognized my love for colour blocking and in particular I love the idea of using colour blocked triangles which look like a slice has been taken out! The ‘slice’ in this piece is Sally Hansen’s Spectrum which is surrounded by China Glaze’s Starboard.

Piece 61 is a pair of stud earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. NYX Frizz Spots is a complex polish with charcoal grey holographic hex glitters and small holographic glitter, which together create an incredible shifting rainbow effect. To compliment the glitter BYS Black creates a simple but effective base.

Piece 60 is a necklace with a round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  Mode is an Australian nail polish brand which can be found in some chemists and pharmacies and costs just $2 which is great value in Australia (OPI are $21 RRP in Australia!). Mode Fashion Addict is a vibrant and saturated purple with a slight jelly finish (some nail bloggers refer to a crème jelly nail polish as a ‘crelly’ polish!). Fashion Addict has been sponged with a pastel purple polish created by myself using Mode Fashion Addict and a white nail polish.

Piece 59 is a necklace with a tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain.  This multilayered pendant has a stunning combination of 4 different nail polishes. First a layer of Color Club’s Covered in Diamonds which is a chunky mylar flakie polish, next Sinful Colors Pearl Harbour which is a clear polish with fine blue glitter which shifts from a bright cyan blue to a deep royal blue. To compliment the 2 glitter layers Sally Hansen’s Pixel Pretty is a beautiful nail polish with a slight colour shift which is enhanced by the final layer of BYS Black.

Piece 58 is a pair of stud earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. A pretty combination of LA Girl’s Animate, a suspension of red glitter and my favourite BYS Black.

Piece 57 is a pair of stud earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. Pastels have been a big trend that Milani’s Lavender glitter is simply stunning, especially when paired with NYX Muted Lavender – the perfect pastel purple combination!

Piece 56 is a pair of stud earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. Mint green is definitely the ‘it’ colour of the moment and this gorgeous mint green glitter called Celestial by Jordana is perfect! To enhance the mint green colour these earrings are backed with L’Oreal’s Waters Edge which is a slightly dusty mint green crème polish.
