I know its been a while since I last updated this blog... but here is a big catch up post! Enjoy!
Piece 75 is a necklace with a
round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. This is a necklace with a very sophisticated
and grown up gradient effect using NYX Golden Lavender (which has the most
incredible gold shimmer) and Ulta3 Allure (which is my go to nude nail polish
of the moment).
Piece 74 is a necklace with a
rectangle glass cabochon (24x48mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. Imagine if it rained glitter, a
shimmering shower of glinting discs of glitter. That’s what I imagine when I
look at this necklace which uses 2 glitter nail polishes – Jordana Cosmic and
LA Girl Aqueous which are backed by NYX Ink Heart.
Piece 73 is a ring with a
high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a black enameled filigree
adjustable ring. This ring is absolutely breath taking. The magic of
Kleancolor’s Chunky Holo Black creates a rainbow kaleidoscope which is entirely
mesmerizing. Fair warning – you will not be able to achieve anything while
wearing this ring and driving is dangerous due to the fact that you wont be
able to concentrate on anything other than the prism of colour in this ring. To
compliment the colour shifting glitter BYS Black creates a perfect canvas.
Piece 72 is a pair of stud
earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. The hero
nail polish used for these earrings is Jordana’s Carnival but if I had my way I
would rename this nail polish 40 leagues or deep sea because I think the
layered, multidimensional effect created with green and blue hex medium glitter
and small blue glitter suspended in a navy jelly base evokes the deep ocean. To
amplify the navy jelly base I have used NYX Ink Heart which is also a navy
jelly.
Piece 71 is a ring with a
high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a black enameled filigree
adjustable ring. This piece is a little unorthodox – another piece made with
TKB Pigments that are designed for frankening nail polishes. Franken nail polishes
(or the act of frankening) refers to mixing your own concoction using existing
nail polishes, pigments, colour bases, glitters or flakies to create your own
custom polish. The Indie nail polish scene has exploded in the past year as
more people experiment and create their own unique nail polishes, to find some
great nail polishes you can check out etsy or llawore.
This ring uses TKB Green Flakies which create a chunky and chaotic colour
changing effect when paired with BYS Black.
Piece 70 is a necklace with a
tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. If you’ve visited this blog more
than once you may have noticed my predilection for any nail polish that changes
colour, usually called a duochrome (shifts between 2 colours) or a multichrome
(shifts between more than 2 colours – like a rainbow captured in a nail polish
bottle!). This tear shaped necklace uses Ozotic 507 which is widely recognized
as a dupe for Chanel’s Peridot which was a massive hit in the nail polish world
a couple of years ago – and it’s easy to see why! This nail polish shifts
between a golden green, Kelly green, forest green and all the way to a deep
hunter green – it’s a green dream! Duochromes and multichromes are most vibrant
and the colour shift is most pronounced when paired with a dark base colour,
for this piece I have used BYS Black.
Piece 69 is a necklace with a
round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. This necklace is bright! China Glaze’s Celtic
Sun is my go to neon yellow nail polish and it has been combines with Sally
Hansen’s Celeb City to create an eye catching gradient. This is a necklace that
will definitely be noticed!
Piece 68 is a necklace with a
tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. The beautiful gradient created in
this piece is a combination of LA Girl’s Bronze Medal – a nail polish somewhere
between chunky shimmer and micro glass fleck glitter, and LA Girl’s Deejay
which is a bright blue which glows blue under black light!
Piece 67 is a necklace with a
oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. This necklace uses 2 Ulta3 nail
polishes, a champagne metallic called Envy and a bold pink called Hot Spring.
Piece 66 is a necklace with a
oval shaped glass cabochon (30x40mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. More colour blocking! This piece
uses Ozotic 505 at the top, Color Club Alias in the middle and Picture Polish
Mask-a-rade glitter and all backed with BYS Black.
Piece 65 is a ring with a
high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a white enameled filigree
adjustable ring. This was an experiment that went incredibly well. I created
this effect by painting a layer of clear nail polish and dipping it into TKB
Pigment Cherika Moon to create a thick and mottled effect. I think this creates
a finish that looks like a celestial cloud and with the colour shift from
bright magenta to brilliant blue this ring is complex and eye catching. BYS Black finishes this piece.
Piece 64 is a ring with a
high domed round glass cabochon (22x22mm) set on a white enameled filigree
adjustable ring. Orly’s Halley’s Comet was one of the first Orly nail polishes
that I bought and it still beauty still flaws me. Halley’s Comet is a glass
fleck polish (think glitter but irregular and fine) which shifts through bright
cyan blue, vibrant cobalt blue and a green aqua. To maximize the aqua this ring
is backed with OPI’s Fly, a simple crème.
Piece 63 is a pair of
cufflinks with round faceted glass cabochons (14x14mm) and silver plated French
style cuff links. These cufflinks are eye-catching with a shimmering
holographic effect created by Color Club’s Blue Heaven and BYS Black and
heightened by the facets in the glass. These will blow you away in the sun!
Piece 62 is a necklace with a
tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. By now you will have recognized
my love for colour blocking and in particular I love the idea of using colour
blocked triangles which look like a slice has been taken out! The ‘slice’ in
this piece is Sally Hansen’s Spectrum which is surrounded by China Glaze’s
Starboard.
Piece 61 is a pair of stud
earrings with round glass cabochons (8x8mm) and silver-plated studs. NYX Frizz
Spots is a complex polish with charcoal grey holographic hex glitters and small
holographic glitter, which together create an incredible shifting rainbow
effect. To compliment the glitter BYS Black creates a simple but effective
base.
Piece 60 is a necklace with a
round glass cabochon (30x30mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake chain. Mode is an Australian nail polish brand which
can be found in some chemists and pharmacies and costs just $2 which is great
value in Australia (OPI are $21 RRP in Australia!). Mode Fashion Addict is a
vibrant and saturated purple with a slight jelly finish (some nail bloggers
refer to a crème jelly nail polish as a ‘crelly’ polish!). Fashion Addict has
been sponged with a pastel purple polish created by myself using Mode Fashion
Addict and a white nail polish.
Piece 59 is a necklace with a
tear shaped glass cabochon (18x25mm) and an 18-inch silver plated snake
chain. This multilayered pendant has a
stunning combination of 4 different nail polishes. First a layer of Color
Club’s Covered in Diamonds which is a chunky mylar flakie polish, next Sinful
Colors Pearl Harbour which is a clear polish with fine blue glitter which
shifts from a bright cyan blue to a deep royal blue. To compliment the 2 glitter
layers Sally Hansen’s Pixel Pretty is a beautiful nail polish with a slight
colour shift which is enhanced by the final layer of BYS Black.
Piece 58 is a pair of stud
earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. A pretty
combination of LA Girl’s Animate, a suspension of red glitter and my favourite
BYS Black.
Piece 57 is a pair of stud
earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. Pastels
have been a big trend that Milani’s Lavender glitter is simply stunning,
especially when paired with NYX Muted Lavender – the perfect pastel purple
combination!
Piece 56 is a pair of stud
earrings with oval glass cabochons (10x14mm) and silver-plated studs. Mint
green is definitely the ‘it’ colour of the moment and this gorgeous mint green
glitter called Celestial by Jordana is perfect! To enhance the mint green colour
these earrings are backed with L’Oreal’s Waters Edge which is a slightly dusty
mint green crème polish.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog, come back soon to see more items!
